Why we should have fun projects and activities in elementary classes? What the fourth grade should know about the Ellis Island project before beginning.

WHAT IS PBL and WHY DO I NEED TO KNOW ?
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
You need to know, because this is one of many ways I teach in my classroom; this is why I require hands-on projects.
Why use PBL?
Students gain a deeper understanding of the concepts and standards at the heart of a project. Projects also build vital workplace skills and lifelong habits of learning. Projects can allow students to address community issues, explore careers, interact with adult mentors, use technology, and present their work to audiences beyond the classroom. PBL can motivate students who might otherwise find school boring or meaningless.
How is PBL used?
Some teachers use PBL extensively as their primary curriculum organizer and instructional method. Others use PBL occasionally during a school year. Projects vary in length, from several days to several weeks or even a semester. PBL can be effective at all grade levels and subjects, and in career/technical education, afterschool and alternative programs.
How big can Project-Based Learning get in education and how far can my child go if we take this seriously? Take a LOOK AND SEE.

ELLIS ISLAND
They showed their creativity side in their presentations. Sometimes taking a topic and digging deeper will build long term memory rather than just reading about something in a short story and moving on.

My superheroes worked very hard on their creative superheroes' PBL. They developed a hero/heroine and had decide their names, superpowers, weaknesses, history (how they got the powers), how they will help the world, and who the villain is.
WILL YOU BE MY TRAVEL AGENT?
What a wonderful job my rising fifth graders did over the summer to prepare themselves for fifth grade! They learned about Asia by using their creativity and making a brochure as if they were a a travel agent for a country in Asia and the brochure were sitting on the counter at the Welcome Center. You may visit my old website at mrsswafford.weebly.com to see my summer assignments and get a better understanding regarding the criterias.
